Teaching Tech Wisdom: Fluency, Safety & Smart Digital Habits at Home 🛡️
#ParentingInsight #StrategySaturday
TL;DR: This week we focused on digital safety while building fluency. From THINK-ing before we click or tap, to testing password strength and updating our tech family agreement, it was a week of both fun and fruitful learning. We trimmed to 4 days but still made meaningful progress.
Bible Inspiration:
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right… think about such things." — Philippians 4:8
This verse shaped our online safety focus this week as we practiced THINK-ing. That’s the kind of filter we want our children to develop online: Is it True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary, Kind? Simple. Memorable. Bible-aligned.
This Week’s Focus:
This week was all about growing discernment while staying digitally engaged. Think of it as Eden-like exploration: safe spaces, guided steps.
We kept our 2-track system and made the most of our 4 days. Here’s what we did:
Tech Wisdom Card: “Pause Before You Click or Tap” led to great convos using THINK
Typing Games:
Keyboard Climber (best for our youngest)
Dance Mat Typing (hit with the eldest)
Password Challenge:
Used Password Monster — “Open Sesame” didn’t cut it
Eyes widened when they saw how fast “1234” gets hacked
App Review: Which apps help? Which distract? (Spoiler: some do both)
Family Tech Agreement: We refined our family tech boundaries and talked through “what to do when tech goes wrong.”
Tracker Time: Each of us captured our week’s highlights on the Living Wisely with Tech tracker
Reflection Checklist: Are we building safety and discernment as digital habits?
✅ Have we taught our children to pause before clicking, tapping or sharing online?
✅ Have we introduced basic security concepts?
✅ Have we guided honest reviews of what helps vs distracts in our digital spaces?
✅ Have we aligned on our family tech boundaries together?
✅ Are we encouraging personal reflection on how we use tech?
Action Step:
Choose one digital safety topic to explore this week. Try one of these:
Memorize and apply the THINK filter before online browsing or sharing.
Pick an app and talk about its pros, cons, and purpose.
Review or start a simple Family Tech Agreement.
Invite your children to lead the discovery while you provide the guardrails. Let wisdom—not just curiosity—drive the clicks.
